[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] THIS IS COOL ... (but not real)

For cars and such, the 5G future is *at least* ten years away, and has been for the past forty years!
But for both 5G Cell service and 5G-fixed home Internet services, the City of Waltham in March of this year began the process of approving a build-out contract which includes the 5G-fixed company Starry. No mention of eventual speeds, pricing or availability in various parts of our City, but this stuff is getting f-ing real, folks! More in July (my presentation time).
John Rudy asked me last year "What is the Killer App which will make me want to get 5G?"
The "Killer App" is -- a VIRUS! (A human real-world virus.)
Well, maybe not for all of us, but heavy Zoom and 4k streaming video users will want the 5G upgrade eventually. Businesses with remote workers and work from home people want it YESTERDAY! I just got the news report last evening that schools may be reopening this fall with one day in, one day remote classrooms, limited to ten students per classroom. (In Waltham, that would be one day in, two days remote.) That's another case for in-home 5G service, and a subsidy for lower-income households (with free Chromebooks thrown in there). More in July (my presentation time).
But how do we "upgrade" parents, so that they will be better part-time teachers? Especially when most of us go back to work? And for special needs kids??
And what will the "New Normal" do to plans for the new Waltham High School? The plans have already taken over 6 acres of conservation land not originally planned to be used. And it's already the second most-expensive new high school project in MA history.

Great StarTrek/Jetsons type video of the future. But, 5-G looks like it could be a solid 10-years away for autonomous cars as more common place. This video is inspirational.

Yup. Of course, a private company sending rockets (and people) into space also sounds ridiculous, no?
Well, there are a few places (besides DisneyWorld) that do have some mildly "futuristic things":

Hi,
We'll call the last one "SimCity fights a building fire?" [see: The Sims 1- Cooking Fire - YouTube]
Just to say... if the building had a sprinkler system and you had a pandemic to kill off traffic, then this is all moot.
Yes, does seem like an "artist's rendering". Personally, this makes much more sense, just bring nozzles and water hoses up, and maybe just hook over a railing or something? For rescues, sure, drones could just tote something like an enclosed airplane slide tube up and have escapees latch it onto something. Far simpler means something that works, yes?
- DJI R&D head dreams of drones fighting fires by the thousands in 'aerial aqueduct' | VentureBeat
(note the part of the article about a "computer glitch" being responsible for Notre Dame fire is one of those stupid reporting errors: there was a glitch in that the fire alarm may have reported the fire in the wrong location -- the fire itself seems likely caused [though still unknown?] by improper disposal of smoking materials [cigarettes], which probably smoldered for a long time, at least if you subscribe to Occam's razor!)
The idea that big vehicles could somehow travel over traffic has been around for a while, but delicately on two wheels like a stunt driver? I'm not convinced. Here's one from a few years back you've probably seen?

If you look at the last frame of the video when it stops, it is clearly a CGI (Computer Generated Image). If you replay the video, you can see other indications of it being CGIs, especially in the pedestrians. An interesting concept but I don't see how it would work, at least the part of a severely top heavy load balancing on line contact while making dynamic turns. I guess a massive, vertical axis gyroscope could manage it but, while an interesting concept, I don't think it would be ultimately practical. If the hovering drone part could work, why not just fly it to the fire?
