[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] very interesting article

One thing in the article is a bit concerning, depending on how it is handled in this proposal:
“Pfizer should understand what Merck is doing, and vice versa.”
Under current Trade Secrets and Patent Law policies, this should be of concern to companies which naturally compete with each other in normal times. More troubling, in normal times, anti-trust laws prevent excessively close cooperation among companies in an industry. How to manage this and prevent price-fixing would be an administrative issue of some complexity.
But the whole idea has already been rejected by our current Federal Government. In fact, CDC already had such a task force before the pandemic hit, and the Administration defunded it and reassigned key personnel to other, much less responsible positions.
Nice idea, but when academic dreams hit political realities, rarely do the good ideas survive intact, if at all.
And this is why we still can't go outside without face coverings, or meet other people face to face.
Maybe the billionaires of the private sector should put together their own Institute and keep the politics out of it.
