[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] Xfinity is walking away from Norton Security Online

Xfinity users should have received the following notice from Comcast within the last few weeks.  Bottom line: After 31 December 2020, Xfinity will no longer offer the Norton security software that Comcast has provided for several years.  Their "feel good" message suggests that Xfinity users will still be protected by Xfinity's pre-existing xFi Advanced Security.  However, you must use an Xfinity modem and your devices (phones, laptops, tablets, etc.) will only be protected while on your network.  They neglect to say that xFi Advanced Security does not provide antivirus protection.  That's now up to you. They also neglect to say that the Norton software may still reside on your computer(s), but there will be no virus signature updates, thus providing a false sense of security.

Your options include paying for Norton 360 (or whatever) on your own at an estimated cost of $100/year after their 6-month free trial and first year discount offers run out... or you can use Microsoft Defender.  Whichever option you choose, the transition is your responsibility.
