[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] cell phones

During the recent power outage, we attempted to use the landline with an older push-button phone.  The landline was stone cold dead, as were the portable phones with attached bases.  I’m not sure why the landline didn’t function.   We always have charging bricks fully charged for these exigencies.   Any ideas as to why the landline went out as well as the portables?

Like George, we’ve hung onto an old telephone (a touch-tone phone), hoping that the phone company will still maintain the low-voltage line that keeps it and other devices (e.g., a SUPRA real estate lockbox device, which requires daily over-the-phone updating) operational.  Since these old devices still work, we assume the line is still “hot” (really, warm), and hope it will serve as a back-up if there is an electrical power outage – an advantage of living in an “old” house that has obsolescent telecom outlets and gadgets.

We haven’t recently checked them out in a genuine outage, and hope we won’t have to.

I actually do have one and use it when the power is off. Other than cell phones it is the only landline that works without electrical power AC. I also use it to track down issues I have with landline hand held devices. In tracking issues, Verizon also uses it.
