Subject: Revised Date, Manhattan Project
Please note the presentation has been changed from Tuesday to Thursday, October 1:
CARY MEMORIAL LIBRARY
Science & Economics Speaker Series
The Manhattan Project – Science, World War II and the Atomic Bomb
Thursday, October 1, 7:00 PM
Dr. Gene Skolnikoff, MIT, will present a timeline of the key steps in the initiation and development of the atomic bomb, codenamed the Manhattan Project. Then he will focus on the most contentious issue -- still evident in this summer’s commemoration of the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima – of whether the bomb had to be used at all.
As we must, this will be a virtual presentation by Cary Library. Make your reservation: It is listed on the Cary events calendar for October 1. Click the hand icon to enter your name and email address.

Dr. Eugene Skolnikoff is Professor of Political Science Emeritus, MIT, with a distinguished teaching career, numerous honors, and extensive scholarly publications, especially with a focus on the interaction of science and technology with international affairs.
