Folks ,
I finally got iCloud working under Windows 11 my Dell XPS-13.
When I downloaded iCloud from the Windows store it failed to install until I took ownership of the Windows apps folder (default
owner is (Trusted Installer).
Could not even open iCloud to set up unless I ran as administrator even though I was in my administrator account.
Still iCloud setup windows would close while trying to enter my Apple ID and password.
Uninstalling and reinstalling from the Windows store gave the same results.
I then uninstalled, rebooted and downloaded a local copy of the iCloud installer from:
http://updates-http.cdn-apple.com/2020/windows/001-39935-20200911-1A70AA56-F448-11EA-8CC0-99D41950005E/iCloudSetup.exe
I ran the installer as administrator, rebooted, and ran the correctly installed iCloud as administrator.
Installation and setup both proceeded normally, and my Outlook calendar and contacts now are synced among my
Windows 11 laptop, Windows 10 desktop, iPhone, and iPad.
Bottom line: for Windows 11, running the iCloud installer from a local copy of iCloud.exe works; installation from the Windows store still does NOT.
