 I believe they can make small adjustments using some sort of thrusters. But nothing major, like to avoid a big asteroid heading for Earth. But in such a case, I think we all would have bigger fish to fry.

Yikes!  If something is detected heading toward the space station, is there any way to adjust the station’s orbit?
