Sadly, I have never had a Macbook Air, because they were not really suited
for heavy video editing work (well, in the beginning) or software
development (so said Apple).

Probably not the answer you were looking for, but you could make it into an
awfully nice machine (unless you're doing something completely different
than that), but it's far from free ;->
