Yes, a Quick Scan once or twice a week, and a Full Scan once a month, about the same time you do a new system backup (before Microsoft sends out their monthly Updates).
Everyone does do these things, right? :-)

Good advice.
Thanks George and Robert.
I don't always remember to run a full scan every month. I think I should do that from now on!Evie

Microsoft Defender works quite well but if you still want to clean out any viruses, do a complete test. First make sure you are updated on any updates. Then, go to Settings and under security, check off FULL SCAN. This will take a long time , maybe an hour depending on what you have on your computer. I suggest doing this once a month.

Tests of antivirus products:

(A couple of the labs mentioned in the HTG article have gone out of business recently.) https://www.av-comparatives.org/list-of-av-testing-labs/
https://www.av-comparatives.org/

Those should get you started on not only their results, but how the results were obtained.

Hi Bob,
You have done it again; always provide useful analysis!
By the way, how would you test antivirus software and determine which one is good or bad?
