In my youth and before I knew any quantum mechanics, Born’s book, Atomic Physics, was a favorite of mine.  I think I still have a copy.  
In those naïve days I was puzzled by the fact that Born was said to be located in the UK.  Of course, I had no clue about his achievements and fame, then.
It was a shame that the Nobel Prize committee took so long to give formal recognition to his work.
