[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] quite a story

Reminds me when in high school chemistry class we had to use long division/multiplication to do the gas law problems in a test even though we had calculators. At the time I hated it, but it taught us that we need to keep up our basic skills even if no electronics is there to help you.

This is 2022.

We have been around long enough to watch how, say cell phones, matured over 10 years. Let’s remember to discuss this again in 2032. My granddaughter is in college to become an English teacher. She says that most creative writing is done in class to assure authenticity because the teachers can’t distinguish the source of the writing.

Have you tried it out? Not a miracle but definitely impressive.

OpenAI’s new ChatGPT is scary-good, crazy-fun, and—so far—not particularly evil.

Financial Times journalist Dave Lee, for instance, had ChatGPT outline an interview about clean energy. He was impressed. “Prepping for an on-stage interview tomorrow, in a subject area I don’t typically cover,” Lee tweeted. “This kind of tool is just 👌”

A number of years ago I performed a test of two quite bright and aware individuals of whom I had great respect to assess such:

Candidate A -- My brother' wife was a robotics engineer [MEng from Stanford, worked with DEC and J&J appeared as "cover girl" on the front cover of Manufacturing Automation Magazine]

Candidate B --- My wife worked in the customer service and customer service support for several local banks

Miracle A -- sophisticated software to manage the motion of several robotic arms to prevent collisions between them and also between one of them and the platforms and tools and including strangely shaped objects they were carrying

Miracle B -- a program able to conduct a mortgage interview with a prospective mortgage client

both suitably documented by peer-reviewed and suitably edited "recent articles" [circa the experiment]

For the challenge -- I presented Miracle A to Candidate B and Miracle B to Candidate A -- both were suitably amazed

For the "Baseline Case" -- I presented A with A and B with B -- neither was at all impressed

I doubt whether Dave Lee knew much of anything about Energy -- Clean or otherwise
