As a followup to the discussion about smart watches and personal safety,
I have found this information about how to issue an SOS with both
Apple/Android phones and smart watches. Messages that go out this way
include your exact GPS location so your contacts can find you even if
you can't speak on the phone. Location is updated if you move.
Even if you just have a phone at the moment, you should still review how
to pre-select your emergency SOS contacts and how to send an SOS
manually. See below. You can also add medical information 1st responders
can access even on a locked phone. Attached is a picture of all of the
medical information you can provide to 1st responders on Android phones.
This information is visible from the lock screen when you swipe the
telephone icon (Android).
