[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] Any new Smart Watch's out there?

I've drunk some of the Apple Kool-Aid (though I recently switched to a
Linux laptop from Framework as I mentioned recently). Anyway, I have an
iphone, so when Apple watches started having fall detection, I used that
as my excuse to myself to spring for one (a series 4). (The fall
detection has "worked" a few times, in that I took a few hard falls and
it started warning me that it was going to call 911 before I stopped it,
because I was ok.)

I got the version with cellular. Yes, it's $120/year, but it also means
I get some phone functionality even without my phone. I have to say,
most of the time I have my phone with me when I'm out, but occasionally
I don't and it's been handy. Not sure it was worth the money. I hate to
admit that one of the best things for me about my Apple watch is that I
can use it to find my iphone. I assume that would work without cellular
as long as the watch is connected to wifi (or close enough to the phone
to use bluetooth).

BTW, I'm pretty sure all Apple watches have both bluetooth and wifi. I'm
guessing the same is true for Android watches.

The most amusing part of the sales pitch was when he tried to upsell me
the stainless steel version over the aluminum. When he told me the steel
one was "heirloom quality", I started cracking up. Of course he couldn't
even promise me that Apple would support the "heirloom quality" watch
for a decade. I'm pretty sure my grandchildren wouldn't be wearing mine,
even if it were steel.
