What lies beyond the sun? What other planets could be out there? Well, possibly thousands! Meet our exoplanet expert, Dr. Jennifer Burt, an astronomer from NASA, who will be joining GBH to talk about new planets in the Milky Way and the search for life. This is your opportunity to connect with Jennifer and ask her all about the universe.
Jennifer is an astrophysicist working at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab where she specializes in the detection and characterization of exoplanets, or Earth-like planets orbiting stars other than the sun. Specifically, she combines observations from ground-based telescopes and space-based satellites to measure small exoplanets. This allows her to try and figure out what they’re made of and identify the exoplanets that are best suited to having their atmospheres studied by the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes.
This event will be moderated by NOVA’s Outreach Manager, Gina Varamo.
