When I was a young-un, the “official” numbering of Schubert Symphonies was different from the numbering today.  I don’t know why the renumbering occurred.
I can’t cite examples off the top of my head.  If any of you have old Schubert symphony LPs, maybe you could compare their numbers with current CDs.

Note its response to my correction.  I wonder whether it truly has now learned something.  It is strange that it thought that the Unfinished was the 9th

RUDY: how many works did Schubert compose

Franz Schubert was an incredibly prolific composer, creating a vast amount of music during his relatively short life (he died at the age of 31). While the exact number of works he composed is difficult to determine due to the varying ways in which pieces have been categorized and catalogued over the years, it is believed that Schubert wrote over 1,500 works in total.

These works include symphonies, chamber music, piano music, songs (including over 600 lieder), operas, masses, and other vocal and instrumental music. Some of Schubert's most famous compositions include his Symphony No. 9, "Unfinished"; the song cycles "Die Schöne Müllerin" and "Winterreise"; the Trout Quintet; and the String Quintet in C Major, among many others.

Schubert's incredible output and lasting influence on Western classical music have cemented his legacy as one of the greatest composers of all time.

You are correct, and I apologize for the error in my previous response. Franz Schubert's Symphony No. 8, also known as the "Unfinished" Symphony, is indeed his eighth symphony, not his ninth. It is one of his most famous and beloved works, and despite its unfinished status (it only has two completed movements), it is widely regarded as a masterpiece of the symphonic repertoire. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
