George,

It's tough to offer a suggestion until we know what you want to do with the docking station.

What do you want a docking station to do for you?

Do you want to expand the number of USB-A ports?

YES but not priority

Add some USB-C ports?
That would be great. A real USB-c port not just a cord that connects USB-a on one end to a USB-c on the other.

Provide HDMI?

I have one but would like to have 2nd

Provide SD and Micro SD card readers?

Nice to have but have not used them in a long while

This is what a "docking station" can provide and most appear to connect to a USB-C port on your laptop and they are $50+.

If you want to expand the number of USB-A ports, then you would want to get a hub. Amazon has these as low as $4 or so, see https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0835L5HV6/ as it'll connect to a USB-A port and allow 4 devices to connect to it.

If you want more USB-A ports, SD & Micro SD readers, and HDMI then you're looking at around $30, see for example https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PS854VP/

You could also visit Microcenter in Cambridge. Good idea

I purchased Anker model 575 station which was great but required a USB-c port on the computer so I have to send it back.

Regards,

-steve

Amazon has many options MOST REQUIRE computers with USB-c port

Hi

I am looking to buy a docking station to match my laptop. The laptop (it is 4 years old) has no USB-c hubs, only USB-a and HDMI.

Any suggestions? It seems all the docking stations I looked at require a USB-c port.

George
