An interesting test case for current search-quality AI (ChatGPT): Ask it about the history of your organization.
Chicago Computer Society Zoom Meeting, Tues., Feb. 14, 2023.
We had a great time last night at the CCS Tips and Tricks SIG playing with the open-source site for ChatGPT. (https://chat.openai.com/auth/login) (Warning: This site is frequently over capacity, so you may need to try at different times to get on to the login page and create an account so you can use the site. And it is not always available due to capacity issues.) One thing we tested was how much the bot knows about our own group, CCS. Without our input, the bot thought we had disbanded in 2012 and only talked about us in a historical context.
I began to wonder where the incorrect information which ChatGPT used in its first essay came from.
I did a brief Google Search for information on the history of the Chicago Computer Society.
What I conclude is that while information is out there on a Google Search of the Web, there is not enough readily accessible information on this topic to compose the essay ChatGPT gave us on our first try. Where else it was getting its information which led to the false conclusion about our 2012 demise, I have not been able to determine easily.
