All,

As I am in the process of finishing the presentation for Windows 11 for
the group, and I am wondering if anybody has any requests regarding
specific Windows 11 features you are particularly interested in seeing
or learning about.

There will be a demo of how to install Android software via WSA -
Windows Subsystem For Android. There aren't a lot of Android programs
that you would want to run on windows. However, for example, I like to
play the game backgammon and there's a very nice backgammon game on
Android and rather than playing it on my cell phone I can play against
somebody else on the Internet on my laptop. Google makes a very nice
Android photo editor called Snapseed. Rather than running it on your
cell phone, you can run it full screen on windows and edit/enhance your
photos. These are just two examples that I will show.

I will very briefly mention the LSW - Linux Subsystem For Windows. My
default installation is Ubuntu Linux.

I can't demo Apple products, but Microsoft has recently added support
for the iphone in addition to Android phones for connectivity.

File Explorer and Notepad have new features that are long overdue.

Voice recognition has been enhanced a little bit thanks to Microsoft's
acquisition of Nuance.  Although, there is still a long way to go.

Microsoft's acquisition of the voice recognition company Nuance has made
inroads into improvement for voice recognition in Windows 11. It's not
dragon naturally speaking, but it is really good for writing email and
most importantly online chat technical support which is becoming more
and more prevalent. It's a lot easier to talk to your computer when
dealing with a remote technician over chat.

We'll see what is referred to as "God Mode". It may not be godly only,
it is an easy way to access a lot of functionality that people often
need but don't know how to locate. It puts a lot of windows
customization features at your fingertips. Say you want to change what
happens when you insert a USB flash drive into a port. You may not know
where in windows now that feature is, only it is right in front of you
in the God mode window.

I'll also show off a few features from the power toys software kit from
Microsoft. One of its most powerful/useful features is the ability to
OCR text in a picture or file you can't select/copy on the screen and
convert it into regular text. This applies to both Windows 10 and 11.

Google  has a new, (still in beta) feature for Windows that adds
Android's default nearby sharing feature to Windows computers, so you
can easily transfer text, hyperlinks, and downloads from Android to
Windows. I'll give you a quick demo of a similar product that works
across all platforms including the iphone, so you can share photos from
the iphone to Windows for example with very quick access and transfer.
You can open a web browser window on your cell phone and pass it off to
your Windows computer and continue reading.

Of course, I'll be covering some pleasant changes MS has made over the
last 2 years from customer feedback. One of those is pinning
applications to the taskbar by dragging them to the taskbar.

*Either reply to the group, or send me a direct email to
dking65 at kingconsulting.us if you have a topic that you, and others
perhaps, would like to have covered.
*
