I am hoping that someone will come through and help a refugee in a very bad situation through no fault of her own. Any leads and suggestions will be very much appreciated as this refugee now has 6 days to find another place to live.

HELP NEEDED: Ukrainian refugee in desperate need of housing.

Liudmila, a non-English speaking civil engineer by profession, is a retired Ukrainian refugee in her late sixties. Though she is the perfect tenant who does not smoke nor drink, and is almost obsessively clean, she will be evicted from her single room in Boston on MO, 3/27/2023 for non-payment of rent. She has no money because her resources were spent when her sponsors took advantage of her and her daughter’s family. She has food only thanks to govt. food stamps and some food pantries. She is feeling really down because of her situation (as would I).
I am looking to our community to help her avoid having to live in a shelter until she earns enough money to find a stable situation in our area or she can return to a very uncertain future in Ukraine away from her village that was very badly damaged. She would like to stay in the US where her daughter’s family is in a similar situation (I hope to avoid a similar plea for their family soon), so she can stay close to her cherished granddaughter.
If you know of a situation where she could work for her room, board and some compensation she would love to hear about it. She is a proud woman who is very embarrassed by having to rely on charity.
In case she cannot quickly get a live-in position, if any of you have or know of a spare room where she could stay for free for the next month (or more if possible) until she figures out how to make some money and her pension payments are resumed plse let me know. I have her agreement that she will move out in a month, so this is not a long-term commitment. Alternately, if you know of a very inexpensive room for her, I’d can establish a GoFundMe account to pay for her (and possibly her daughter’s family’s) rent.
I turn to you for any help you can offer. We have another opportunity to do real good as a community and I hope we can come through and help. Thank you for your advice and support!
