I meant to say "Lots to think about". Probably a Freudian slip anyway.

With my subscription to the NYT (digital, limited) I was able to read the article. Lost to think about there. Much of it is as I suspected, but I could never articulate the issues the way Noam Chomsky does.
Definitely a lot to think about, and a lot for people to plan for as "AI" (chatbot) technology develops and spreads.

Thanks for the link Mike.
The article reminded me of an incident that took place about 50 years ago. I was at BBN but not in either of the groups involved. BBN was holding a meeting on Artificial Intelligence. (The "AI" acronym had not yet caught on.) Someone put a sign in the Lobby with an arrow pointing in the direction of the auditorium with the words "Artificial Intelligence this way". In less than an hour someone from the Architectural Acoustics group put up another sign with an arrow that said "Real Intelligence this way" pointing in their direction.
Besides being a good joke it is and it was really much more profound. How long will it be before AI (going by riding on a robot) can/will understand both signs and the overall situation.
BTW, the AI group had no sense of humor and quickly tore down the "real" sign.

For those who aren’t stymied by the NYT’s paywall: An interesting attack on AIs that are based on training materials.
