[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] Zoom software updates

Ubuntu, Ubuntu-Unity and Mint Linux do not update Zoom from their Repo. I have to go to the web site using any web browser to get the package. Then I install it with gDebi.

 Yup, agreed.

I don't know for certain and I can't prove it but I would presume that the Mac version upgrades very similarly to the way the windows version does from inside the software or from using some kind of software update service integrated with the Mac OS I don't know.

No apple Hardware here.

The Linux operating system handles software updates via a software updater tool.

I have zoom on my Android Samsung and it updates zoom automatically from the Google Play app store.

I presume on iPads, iPhones and Android phones and tablets you just check for updates in the appropriate app store.
 That leaves MACs.

Here is a very easy way to check your version number without running any software.

Look in the Windows Control Panel:

My way (free account) is to just open the Zoom App and see the display version number. It will be in a different location in the paid app, so I won't include a screenshot or anything like that.

Then I go to the Zoom Download Center (Zoom "Resources" Tab) in my web browser. I look at the available latest version of Zoom. If it's higher than what I have installed, I simply download and install the newer version.

Yes, it's a "brute force" approach and not automatic, but it works, and it takes me only a few minutes at most.

Then updates are usually at about two-week intervals. But with all the Zoom Meetings I have each week, just check for a new version each time I fire up Windows (or Linux) on my PCs. (I also check manually for Microsoft Defender definition updates each time I log in to Windows.)

I have a paid version and not sure how I find what version I have or how to update it? I get updates every once in a while automatically.

Any thoughts?

All,

Don't forget to upgrade your Zoom client.

If it's been more than a week since your last update, there's a newer version out there.

The current version is 5.16.6
