Could it be explained by the blurb below the NASA Astronomy Pics of the Day
linked below?

The image you shared has the edge pretty smooth, with the indentation at 7.
There is also a smaller one at about 10. Higher resolution photos show
rougher edges where light peeked through hills and valleys on the moon's
edge. As you'll see, prominences on this photo
<https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap240412.html> are quite prominent🙃, as are
Baily's Beads, and on this video <https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap240414.html>of
the end of totality. If I'm looking at your photo correctly, it looks more
like an indentation than a prominence, so perhaps a valley on the moon's
edge?
