 Nothing new about this. They've been doing this for a few years now. There are only certain types of security protocols which Google accepts. I have the same issue with Claws Mail in Linux.

Google still requires App passwords for what they call “less secure apps”.  

  

Outlook and Thunderbird are less secure apps by Google’s definition.

  

Separate App passwords are required for each device.  I had to get one password for

Outlook on my desktop PC, and a different on for Outlook on my laptop.

Not sure if this is still being done by google but they used to have app passwords.  You need that to log into Google on your computer. You can maybe look it up on the tablet or mobile and try that. Should be under security settings of your account.

I am going nuts trying to retrieve my Google account on my PC. I can get it on my iPhone and can see the password, but the password does not work on my PC.

I have been trying literally for days with no luck.

Does anybody have a telephone number for Google customer service?
