As has always been the case, what PC you pick should depend on what
you plan to use it for. So you should make a list of what you want to
do with it.
Microsoft is planning to capture the lead in the AI home market with
Copilot and Copilot+. Copilot+ only runs on selected computers that
start ~$1K. So maybe we should have a discussion of what these are and
if you are likely to use them.
Do you want a desktop or a laptop? I wanted a larger screen so I could
view two full documents at the same time. Desktops are available in
small packages, so don't think you need an old large tower device.
A lot of costs are very reasonable. 1 TB SSDs are of the order of
$100+/-. In my mini desktop I have a one 1 TB SSD, and a one 500GB
SSD for back-up. Back ups take less than a few minutes. I could
probably automate this. Check out how much storage you need. It
depends largely on how many photos and videos you want on your PC, and
how much you add each year.
What about passkeys vs. passwords. Do you need anything special to
handle passkeys?

Ask them to go to the group's wiki page at http://LCTG.toku.us and follow the simple instructions under "Join the Email List". By being a member of the group you'll get reminders of upcoming meetings and infrequent related messages. No advertising. The list is tightly managed.
