[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] Mass Save

I have the Ecobee.  I am very satisfied with it.  It lets you put stand-alone small sensors in other rooms (just set them anywhere, not wires or installation), so it can use some designated combination of sensors to determine when to do cooling or heating.  (We designate which ones to use and what times to use them).  I have a heat pump, and the Ecobee is wired to control the heat pump to heat or to cool, and a gas furnace as an auxiliary heat source..  Usually, the heat pump does our heating.  We have the Ecobee set to switch over to the furnace when the outside temperature falls below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, at which point it makes economic sense and saves strain on the heat pump to use the furnace.  Honestly, I don’t know how well our heat pump would function at colder outdoor temperatures, but in the Boston area there are only a few times a year the temperature gets below 20.

The Ecobee also detects motion, so it can adjust automatically when there is nobody at home.

I have both the Nest and Sensi thermostats and I have found the Sensi constantly cycled on and off in order to precisely maintain a tight temperature. I have a pellet boiler for radiant floor heat and this constant cycling was not how the boiler is intended to run. I contacted Sensi and they said that is how they designed the thermostat so I switched to the Nest thermostat and it is has a more adjustable temperature bandwidth and fixed the issue I had with the Sensi.
