In 9/2017 I read volume 1 and thought it was excellent. Then went to vol 2 and it was a different translator. I found it very boring and stopped reading it. I have just now watched episode 1 and found it very confusing but interesting enough to continue

Just for the sake of balance, and as a physicist, we watched it and were disappointed. The physics and engineering,

the threat from 4 light years away, and the communication from the threat are way too far fetched. There were

also many times one just could not figure out what was going on. Sorry... thumbs down on this one.

Sometimes in families an external source has more credibility than one's own (familiar) family member. As in what could YOU possibly know about quantum physics?

All-

I normally do not endorse anything. However, for those of you who like
science fiction, have the inclination, time, and access to the streaming
service, I recommend the series: "3 Body Problem" which is a recent
addition to the Netflix. I just learned at our meeting today that this
series is an adaptation from a book of the same name. This British
production is presented in 8 episodes, each almost an hour long, so time
may be a hindrance to some of you.😉 The writers and film makers are
well known and respected; the actors are British with many of them of
Chinese heritage. Apart from the good acting, cinematography, and
production value, my recommendation is based on the liberal and proper
use of scientific (particularly physics) concepts and references to
well-known scientists. There are images sprinkled in that are current,
and the plot has a serious parallel to events that are happening in the
world today.

Hope you enjoy!!
