[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] Printer Recommendations

Too bad you had such a bad experience, Ted. I’ve been using the HP ink service with my HP Office Jet Pro All-in-one 9015 since Dec. 2020. They charge my credit card once a month for pages printed. They send me ink cartridges when the printer tells them they are needed. Interestingly, the print cartridges I get with the service last much longer than the ones I used to buy for a previous HP printer. I am spending less on the ink service than I used to spend buying cartridges.
I did not get the paper service.
I have the “moderate” monthly plan, 100 pages per month. I just now noticed that they raised the price starting this month from $6.99 to $7.99. Unused pages are rolled over to the next month. Extra pages beyond the 100 and after any rollovers cost $1.50 for each additional 10. My wife and I tend to use most of or all the 100 pages when we’re not traveling, but we don’t go enough over to justify paying for a “frequent” plan with 300 pages.
When selecting an all-in-one printer I looked for one that could print double-sided, print color as well as black-and-white, and scan a stack of double-sided documents. I’ve been quite satisfied with this printer for printing, scanning, and copying. It hasn’t broken once in the almost 4 ½ years I’ve had it and I’ve never had a billing problem with the ink plan.

All,
Never -- NEVER subscribe to an ink service
I had a very nice HP Office Jet all in one -- Indeed I still have it -- sitting forlorn and unused for almost a year
To make a long and very unpleasant litany of events somewhat short
1. I subscribed to the HP ink cartridge supply service [subsequently I expanded it to paper as well]
2. All was well and good for the first year
3. My credit card to which things were billed expired and before I could update the system
4. The printer refused to talk to the computer
5. The ink cartridges stopped coming but the billing continued
6. no manner of human intervention stopped the process until -- we called the bank -- and utilized my wife's experience as a retired banker -- to stop the most recent payment
Meanwhile I bought an Epson Eco-tank and have been fine with its printing and I still have plenty of ink in the bottles
Ted

Black and white only or color?
Does she need/use a scanner?

None explains the "whys and wherefores" of the competing technologies. Perhaps someone in this group is aware of an article explaining the differences between various manufacturers/models, or perhaps has some exceptionally good or bad experiences. If so, I would appreciate your comments.
