Ted, all,

Hopefully your casting device looks like this?

Whatever you have *MUST* say "Chromecast"!!

If you don't have a device that says Chromecast it will not be able to 
accept a connection from a Chromebook. *Chromebooks only support 
Chromecast.*

The Chromebook operating system is made by Google which is why it 
requires Google Chromecast.

On the Chromebook in the lower right-hand corner of the panel is a 
settings menu and that is where I found the option to cast.

If by some chance what you have is not compatible with the Chromebook, I 
would recommend going to Walmart and purchasing their branded Android TV 
with built-in Chromecast. It is from Onn and costs $30.
