macys.com<http://macys.com> is working ok from fios.

you can also use a general outage detector, e.g. this one<https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/macys.com>.

I also get my Internet service from RCN/Astound. When I try to reach macys.com<http://macys.com/>, I get this message, both with my VPN on and with my VPN off:
Access Denied

I have in the past been able to access macys.com<http://macys.com/>. I wonder what's up.

Adam,

I think you're right; it's pretty clear that's the case. And it's not that connectivity, per se, is blocked. Rather, the "web site" is serving up a page with an "ACCESS DENIED" error message, stating "You do not have permission to access the requested URL on this server."

I do have a paid VPN service available, and access to macys.com<http://macys.com/> works just fine. So Macy's web site service provider has some sort of beef with connections from RCN/Astound.

There's a good chance those websites are blocking your specific ISP. Nothing to do with your routers. The only answer is to hotspot off your phone (thus using a different ISP effectively) or using a paid VPN that isnt being blocked by that website's provider.

Open a command window on your pc and type tracert followed by the URL you are trying to reach. Example: tracert www.google.com<http://www.google.com/> . It returns a list of the hops being made on route to that web location. The first hop is to your router, which will probably have an address like 192.168.68.1.

Peter,

Although I can't remember much from my networking days, I do remember that if you type traceroute (Mac) or tracert (PC) you used to be able to figure out how your data was being routed. I just tried it from my Mac and couldn't make any sense of the information returned.

You may be looking for something else...

I have an Asus RT-AX5400 router. When I access one specific website, I

instead of the Wi-Fi I am able to access the same website without any
issues.

How do I find out where or how the router is blocking my access? Is it a
different issue?

Thanks!

Peter
