Rube Goldberg was a cartoonist whose works appeared in the New York Times, among other places. He was famous for his drawings of convoluted machines for doing simple everyday tasks. This video series continues in that tradition.

There is an annual competition for people in STEM programs, to come up with the most outlandish Rube Goldberg-style machine.

Rube Goldberg was an engineer by trade, but ran afoul of the US Government for his political views. He even made his children change their name so as not to receive the fallout from the hate and threats against him.
