All,
I've always been looking for a simple way to map a drive from Windows to Linux easily. NFS is one option but requires configuration settings.
I just stumbled across sshfs! The ssh file system.
All you need to do on Linux is install both sshd and sshfs.
Linux to Linux Works without any additional software you just need to know the command syntax.
On Windows there are 3 tiny apps that work together to let you map any drive letter to any folder on the Linux machine.
Nothing to configure.
Simple gui.
The article I read suggests that there is also a way to use this exact same technology from a Mac so that you can mount a Linux drive on a Mac using the same SSHfs protocol.
If anyone is interested I'll put the information together in a follow-up email.
Drew.
