The App Password was entered once into the email client's Yahoo Profile, and was stored for future use. </div><div><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Thunderbird works the same way.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">So I think you can set up an App Password for Yahoo Mail by logging into the web mail in a browser and going through the setup, no 2FA required.</div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false"><br></div><div dir="ltr" data-setdir="false">Google for gmail does require 2FA for their App Password system to work. I set that up at the same time as my Yahoo App Password. For gmail I need to use my smartphone for verification. Trying to enable app password now is not option, as the feature has been disabled and they are not sure if the feature will be enabled again. </span></p><p class="yiv7703691049MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:sans-serif;"> </span></p><p class="yiv7703691049MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:sans-serif;">I had 2FA set up and verified but not set up app password, so I am out of luck. I paid monthly $5.30 to get premium support to learn that.
