The totality path <br>includes a swath of northern New England (see the map below unless I <br>forget to include it :) ).<br><br>As a veteran of the 2017 eclipse, some words of advice if you are <br>planning on a day trip to go see it. Particularly if you are thinking <br>of it as a "quick" day trip.<br><br>I saw the 2017 eclipse in Casper, Wyoming. You probably know that <br>Wyoming is the least populated state - fewer people than DC. And also <br>that it's BIG, so the density is very low. And the only nearby city <br>with a decent sized population is Denver to the south. It also contains <br>mountainous terrain and very few north-south routes. I-25 is the only <br>interstate to Denver or anywhere in Colorado and it's 2-lanes in each <br>direction for most of the way.<br><br>After the eclipse was over, all roads south were gridlocked and didn't <br>really free up for at least 12 hours. If you didn't have a place to stay <br>near where you watched the eclipse, or somewhere to the north, you had <br>to spend the time in your car, at a Starbucks, or wherever. All the <br>warnings about having enough food and water in your car were not a scare <br>tactic.<br><br>I suspect it's going to be even (probably much) worse in New England. <br>VT, NH, and ME have pretty sparse populations, but there will be people <br>making the trip from every point along I-95 from Portland to NYC, not to <br>mention the people coming south from Montreal (but if it were me, I'd <br>find a vantage point in Canada). So, unless you have a place to stay <br>(and if you didn't book it months ago, you probably won't), be ready to <br>be immobile for hours. I suggest finding a place with a rest room (I <br>spent most of the evening at a rest stop where some people were camping <br>out) and bring something to do with your time.<br><br>JJ Krawczyk <u></u><u></u></p><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:white">_._,_._,_<u></u><u></u></span></p></div><div class="MsoNormal" align="center" style="text-align:center"><hr size="2" width="100%" align="center"></div><p class="MsoNormal">Groups.io Links:<u></u><u></u></p><p>You receive all messages sent to this group. <u></u><u></u></p><p><a href="https://groups.io/g/lexington/message/112839" target="_blank">View/Reply Online (#112839)</a> | <a href="mailto:John.J.Krawczyk@gmail.com?subject=Private:%20Re:%20%5Blexington%5D%202024%20total%20eclipse" target="_blank">Reply To Sender</a> | <a href="mailto:lexington@groups.io?subject=Re:%20%5Blexington%5D%202024%20total%20eclipse" target="_blank">Reply To Group</a> | <a href="https://groups.io/mt/104468718/2291593" target="_blank">Mute This Topic</a> | <a href="https://groups.io/g/lexington/post" target="_blank">New Topic</a> <u></u><u></u></p><div class="MsoNormal" align="center" style="margin-right:8.5in;text-align:center"><hr size="2" width="25%" align="center"></div><p class="MsoNormal">↓ ↓ ↓ Please click below for information about what is allowed on the Lexington List as well as how to perform common actions ↓ ↓ ↓<br><a href="https://tinyurl.com/LL-DosAndDonts" target="_blank">https://tinyurl.com/LL-DosAndDonts</a><u></u><u></u></p><div class="MsoNormal" align="center" style="margin-right:8.5in;text-align:center"><hr size="2" width="25%" align="center"></div><p class="MsoNormal"><a href="https://groups.io/g/lexington/editsub/2291593" target="_blank">Your Subscription</a> | <a href="mailto:lexington+owner@groups.io" target="_blank">Contact Group Owner</a> | <a href="https://groups.io/g/lexington/unsub" target="_blank">Unsubscribe</a> [<a href="mailto:jjrudy1@comcast.net" target="_blank">jjrudy1@comcast.net</a>]<u></u><u></u></p><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:white">_._,_._,_<u></u><u></u></span></p></div></div></div>===============================================<br>
