<p>Upgrading an "old" computer to windows 11 does require some
technical knowledge as Bob has suggested. You can run a
comparability test (from Microsoft <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/check-if-a-device-meets-windows-11-system-requirements-after-changing-device-hardware-f3bc0aeb-6884-41a1-ab57-88258df6812b">here</a>)
to determine the reason you cannot run the software. From my
experience it is the use of a relatively new security feature in
the CPU and all programs should work correctly. The workarounds
that are suggested all involve "faking" the installation program
to believe that this feature is present.</p>

<p>That said, the security upgrade is not critical as all the
information on the windows 10 computer is already on the dark web!</p>

<p>I would ask a more basic question, what task are you trying to
perform on the "old" windows 10 machine that you believe windows
11 can solve?</p>

<p>I would not be concerned about the future of windows 10. I would
either purchase new hardware that supports windows 11 or continue
using the windows 10 computer until you are forced to purchase a
new machine. Who knows, it may last until Windows 12 or 13!</p>
