Locast is a non-profit streaming service that allows users to view over
the air (OTA) local stations. They had provided coverage in 30+ US TV
markets.

Bob Premack was prescient regarding the long term viability of Locast
at the January 2020 meeting about TV alternatives. A judge ruled against
Locast earlier this week, and consequently Locast suspended service. The
broadcast networks had sued Locast for copyright infringement and for
violating their status as a non-profit.

Locast has cited an exception in United States copyright law that allows
retransmission of television signals by non-commercial entities at no
charge.

I have been using using an amplified indoor TV antenna (Winegard) to
receive 40+ local stations. Older TVs may not have a decent online
channel guide so I had been using the Locast Roku app as a substitute.
