[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] How to dispose of fried set-top box?

A while ago my Verizon set-top box fried – totally unusable.  Verizon promptly replaced it, without offering to take it away.
I don’t want to put the hulk in the trash, destined for the incinerator.  Is there an environmentally responsible way to dispose of it?
