John,
If folks have some basic questions i can answer, I'd be happy to.
Because there is really only one choice I don't know that there is
enough material for a meeting. It can be added as a brief topic to
discuss at any one of the Potpourri sessions. I'm sure there will be 15
minutes somewhere if there is interest.
There is really only one browser guard that I use and recommend and
that's the Malwarebytes Browser Guard.
It is a complementary product to a traditional antivirus software
program. NOT a replacement. The free Avast One antivirus program that I
use on my second machine is very good at catching browser malware and
especially phishing sites.
On my windows 11 computer I have a combination of the free Avast One
antivirus software and the Malwarebytes free browser guard. Both of them
catch phishing websites. Malwarebytes usually catches a malicious
website first and if for some reason it does not Avast will.
My Windows 10 machine has the paid version of Malwarebytes Premium and
the Malwarebytes browser guard. It also passes malware tests.
Here is a website that will accurately/safely test your currently
installed anti-virus protection. If all you have running is the basic
windows defender software, your computer will likely *fail *at least
some of**the malware tests as Defender does not excel at real-time
website protection. If anyone is apprehensive running the tests which
I'm sure there is I will run this website test live during a meeting so
people can see how it works. The tests are all benign and my computer
catches every single one of them.
With Malwarebytes browser guard and NO anti-virus software, not even
windows defender:
