As I recall, when researchers at MIT tried to replicate the Cold Fusion
experiments, they directly measured the electrical power going in (both AC
and DC components) and they found no excess heat over and above the
measured electric power. McKubre's practice of reckoning only the DC power
and assuming no power in AC transients is an unforgivable mistake that
misled him into looking for other spurious reasons to account for the small
amount of excess heat.
