How to hook it up to a modern PC interface seems like the challenge here.

So presumably, unless it used some exotic formatting or file types, the data should be readable from that old drive on a modern computer. You would just need the right connector/adapter. And the right software for the data types on the drive.

 Ah, yes, you are right. It was a ThinkPad. I believe I sold it in the year 2000. The hard drive says IBM Model: DADA-26480 E182115 HG.
