Harry, I've used handwriting on tablets, and I am very definitely not impressed.
It's cumbersome, inaccurate and wastes a lot of screen real estate compared with typed notes. When using anything digital, I prefer typing.
Please note, I also find voice to text very much the same as handwriting on a tablet -- slow, cumbersome and inadequate, and terribly inefficient in use of time and screen real estate.

 I think both are right:
   - Writing something down leaves a more lasting impression in your memory
   - Using a digital program to record ideas uses less paper.
The question becomes why is it so difficult to  adopt to handwriting on a digital tablet to record our notes?  If we could do this, we'd have the best of both worlds: less paper, better memory - analog or digital -- with the ability to search either.

I agree.

Although, less paper is used each day. Not just for handwriting but in all aspects.

If I could, I'd brick up my Mailbox so the postman couldn't deliver any more paper.

Digital will replace paper 100% at some point.

I used to use notepads to take notes every day, and I exchanged it for the evernote app. I can retrieve information on my tablet, on my phone, and on my computer. It's much more convenient and searchable than a bunch of notepads of paper.

Research shows that handwriting notes activates multiple brain regions associated with optimal memory, much more so than digital devices. Taking notes by hand or writing a to-do list on paper will preserve that memory a lot longer than typing into a laptop or phone. (Psychology Today)
