Conor,

Welcome back. I hope you had a wonderful time and that you will stretch
your vacation tranquility over the first several weeks that you are back.

I hope you will forgive me for putting titles on your three talks that
might not be totally aligned with the content you are going to present. I
tried to recall everything that you showed me into a meaningful set of
topics. I apologize if I got anything wrong (let me know and I'll correct
the listing) and I encourage you to talk about what you want to talk about!

I've been working to get your talks to be a showcase for the group. I
think you will find that our support for a hybrid presentation will be the
best we have done so far. We are still working to improve the experience
for the presenter (you!), the in-person audience, the zoom audience, and
the after-the-fact audience viewing the recording.

With my message to the Lexington List yesterday, I am hopeful that we will
have new people join us who will be attracted by your timely talks. I
think your talks will answer a lot of questions people have about how all
of this mysterious stuff works and what is likely to be coming down the
road.

Peter Albin, Steve Isenberg and I will do our best job of configuring the
technology so that you can deliver your talk naturally with little
interference from the devices picking up audio and video.

Here's all that you need to know when you present. We will help you set up
your laptop computer on the presenter's table to connect to the LexCC
wifi, the Internet, and ultimately the LCTG Conference. You'll use your
laptop for your presentation. You should lower the volume on your laptop
so no sound comes from your laptop; and you should stay near your laptop so
your voice is heard or use the handheld mic if you want to step away. The
handheld mic will also be used when audience members ask questions; if
someone asks a question without using this mic, it would be helpful if you
could repeat the question for the remote audience and recording

If you're interested, here are the details for your info:

   1. There will be two cameras looking at you:
      1. The camera on your laptop
      2. One of the two cameras on a tripod aiming at you from in front of
      the speaker's table.
      3. The other tripod camera will be aimed at the audience. Its mic
will not be used, instead voices from the meeting room audio
system will be
picked up by the mic on your laptop.

      2. Sound from the conference (e.g. questions from the remote
audience) will come from the meeting room audio speakers; this will replace
the audio coming out from your laptop. (This is why you should mute your
   laptop's speakers.)

   3. There will be one microphone (the one on your laptop) picking up your
voice as well as the sound coming from the meeting room audio speakers.

   4. If you decide to stand up while giving your talk, please make sure
you are close to your laptop so that your voice will be picked up or
use the handheld room mic that is connected to the meeting room speakers.

   5. The handheld mic will also be used for audience people to ask
questions. You, Peter or I will hand the mic to the person asking the
question so they will be heard by everyone in the conference. If perhaps
an audience member just blurts out a question without taking the mic, then
it would be good if you repeat the question so that it gets to people on
the conference and into the recording.

I know there are a lot of points above, but in the past once we get it set
up properly, it works. It's not perfect -- yet -- but it's as good as we
can do right now. Of course if you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks again for giving these talks. Since I believe AI/ML has already
proven that it is a revolutionary technology (akin to the impact the
Internet has had on the world) we anticipate that your talks will be among the
most watched talks that have come from our group.

Regards,

-- Harry

P.S. Steve Isenberg read over my original version of this message checking
to make sure I got the details correct and adding suggestions to make it
more readable.

Thank you Steve! -- HF
