Hello folks!
I joined this list many years ago when I was teaching Photoshop and
basic
Windows skills....though I only still teach the former occasionally.
However,
I'm not very tech savvy so most of what you all discuss is over my head
so admittedly I rarely read the list (but am grateful for it)
Plus I'm now partially disabled and incapacitated, homebound,
and only able to work 8-10 hours/week teaching through Lexington
community ed online, living on very limited income in senior disability
housing. I can't afford to hire tech help....so am in a quandary.
A friend actually bought me a new computer (HP desktop,Windows 11)
for Christmas because my 9 year old computer was/is dying. And I got
Best Buy's home installation - though I had to wait FIVE weeks for
the Geek squad's availability.
But now I've run into several problems - speakers and inability to get
Eudora - which has over a million emails since 1998 - working on W11.
I'll address only the former here. The sound on the new computer
is thin and tinny so I really need and want decent speakers.
First of all, I tried to hook up my old speakers (probably about 15
years old) to the new computer - no luck. The USB cable prong is too
big I cant figure out what I need. And I'm really thinking that I need
to buy new speakers but would have to keep the cost under $100.
Plus I'm not able to do any kind of technical hookup (I now have a
neurological condition that makes it almost impossible for to figure
out cables, wires etc.) so I need to get speakers that will immediately
work for me almost out of the box unless someone will volunteer
his/her time to come her to help out. What I want is good sound for my
online courses, and full-bodied sound for music, especially in the
lower registers since I prefer tenor, bass and baritone voices.
I've read a lot of articles about buying computer speakers and don't
understand them or what I'd need to do to set them up. USB? Bluetooth?
Wireless? Help!
It's easiest for me to buy on Amazon with Amazon Prime. After many hours
agonizing over this and reading reviews, I narrowed down my choices to
four selections.....though I'm open to other possibilities.

LOGITECH
Logitech Z407 Bluetooth Computer Speakers with Subwoofer and Wireless
Control

(this one's way more than I could/should pay but I'm fixated on it.
Living
alone and being isolated, I rely a lot on music online......)
Can anyone help me with the choice of speakers?
And maybe even setup?
Please email me privately. Thank you in advance!
