 I would concur that having the router(s) and extender(s) for a mesh network from the same manufacturer increases your chances of successful integration of all components into a well-functioning home network. Mesh networks can be tricky to get everything in sync with everything else, and using different brands only increases the likelihood of issues. EERO has been in the mesh networking business for a long time, while Netgear/Nighthawk is a more recent contender in mesh networking.

 Your Arris modem, model TM722G has ethernet ports. That makes it compatible with lots of routers. I bought from Amazon a  set of EERO routers and mesh extenders, and am very happy with the coverage over our entire house and porch and garage, which is very spread out. Connect the central router to the modem via the ethernet port, then follow the easy instructions to bring up the network of extenders.

We have a RCN setup, installed several years ago and all owned by RCN (uh, Astound):* Arris modem, model TM722G.* Actiontec MoCA adapter, model ECB2500C.* Netgear dual band wireless router, model WNDR4300.  But the wi-fi signal doesn't reach parts of our house. So we just bought a Netgear Nighthawk X4 Wi-fi Mesh Extender. When it's installed, the wi-fi signal strength is great -- but internet connectivity eventually disappears everywhere, and only returns when the extender is unplugged.  SO:-- Could the Nighthawk extender be incompatible with our router?-- Should we use a different extender? If so, what make/model?-- Should we be getting an extender from RCN? -- Is part of the problem that our RCN setup needs upgrading?     (one reason we rent the setup is that we want to be able to upgrade easily)-- Other comments?
