Hi,

I'm hoping someone on this list can provide a solution for an odd
problem my brother is having with gmail and Firefox.

He uses Firefox as his main browser and has been accessing gmail through
Firefox. After a Firefox update a few days ago, he tried to log into his
gmail account. On Firefox, his password kept being rejected as the wrong
password and none of the password reset mechanisms worked for him.

We then got on a Zoom together. He used Edge to access gmail which he
was able to do without a problem. He then reset his password using
gmail. After the reset, he logged into gmail again using the new
password on Edge. That worked fine. He can also access his gmail account
on his phone. However, when he went back to gmail on Firefox, gmail
would not accept his new password. He cleared cookies and site data and
temporary cached files and pages. That didn't help. Firefox still
rejected his password.

I don't think his account has been taken over as he reset his gmail
password via Edge and then used the new password on Edge. Google
propagated the new password to the gmail app on his phone and he's still
reading email there.

My brother is comfortable with Firefox and would like to keep using it.

The only thing I can think of at this point is to suggest he uninstall
and reinstall Firefox. I don't have any great hope that will work, but
maybe it's worth a try? He exported his bookmarks, so he won't lose
them.

If you have any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it if you would let
me know.

Thank you,
Harriet
