Peter,

Although I can't remember much from my networking days, I do remember that
if you type traceroute (Mac) or tracert (PC) you used to be able to figure
out how your data was being routed.  I just tried it from my Mac and
couldn't make any sense of the information returned.

You may be looking for something else...
