Open a command window on your pc and type tracert followed by the URL you are trying to reach.  Example:  tracert www.google.com <http://www.google.com>  .  It returns a list of the hops being made on route to that web location.  The first hop is to your router, which will probably have an address like 192.168.68.1.

Peter,

 

Although I can't remember much from my networking days, I do remember that if you type traceroute (Mac) or tracert (PC) you used to be able to figure out how your data was being routed.  I just tried it from my Mac and couldn't make any sense of the information returned.

 

You may be looking for something else...
