[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] [ PFIR ] Gemini AI may already be enabled by default in your Gmail -- Google says it will share with law enforcement, etc. I DO NOT TRUST GOOGLE.

Olga and her friend have taken the3 introduction of Gemini AI as if it is something new. GMail (and nearly all the free email service providers) has long been in the practice of scanning email messages and using the data they glean to present targeted ads. All email services are obligated by US laws to report to law enforcement anything which may pose a serious threat or danger to other users or the public. This policy has never changed from the beginnings of public email services.
There is nothing new in Google's policies. All that has changed is that now Gemini AI will be one of the scanning agents. Also, your data which are harvested can now be used for training Gemini (and Siri). That change may concern some people, maybe for good reasons.
But don't get the idea that everyone else won't be doing the same things, soon if not already. If you aren't paying for more privacy-focused or encrypted email services, you are the product. And as I said above, all online services are required to contact law enforcement if a threat is detected.
If some things you're doing with email need to be shielded from law enforcement, maybe you shouldn't be using email to do those things?

Google has always had access to Gmail, Docs etc in order to sell advertising. And they’ve always been good at searching/indexing it. So what's different now?

If it's Gemini you want to avoid, then you will have to stop using SIRI because Apple has announced they will partner will Google to use Gemini in Siri.

Lauren has also advised users to stay away from Google docs, since that is the next place they will start pushing Gemini. Sounds like moving everything away from Google is in my near future - SIGH.
