[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] iPhone Storage Suddenly Disappears!

Thanks for all your responses.
For what it’s worth -- I hovered over the address on the email; it gave me apple.com. So I’m becoming confident that Apple itself has shafted me.
My latest charge card bill shows a $0.99 charge from Apple. So a missed payment can’t be at fault unless Apple didn’t record the payment even though they charged me.
I have a full schedule today and tonight. Somehow, I’m going to have to fit in an appointment at the Apple store.

Adam B. is most likely correct. I would do as he suggests, then do as Steve I. suggests, to make sure everything is OK in your actual Apple accounts.
As Adam notes, there are a lot of email scams going around surrounding iCloud storage. I get them in Yahoo email, even though I have never had an account with Apple (though some enterprising souls did a long time ago open accounts using my info.).
Do we need a Potpourri item or a brief announcement to our user group about this issue? (I'd like to let Apple users present this.)

Fellow members,
Until sometime this evening, I had 50 GB of iCloud storage for my iPhone, for which Apple extracted $0.99 per month from my credit card. Then, without warning, Apple told me I had used up all of 5 GB of my 5 GB allotment (those are not typos! See screen shot, below.)
I recall having used ~13-14 GB of the 50 GB allotment.
When I go to Settings/iCloud, the storage info is more or less consistent with these new claims.
What’s going on? What is the “+” appended to iCloud? How can this be rectified? Has my phone been hacked?
Thanks, in advance, for insights.
Mike Alexander
