[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] Cable box question

I'm sometimes not sure what's okay on this list and what needs to go
elsewhere.

If this is a elsewhere question, anatomically feasible alternatives
appreciated.

I'm thinking of breaking open my Xfinity/Comcast cable box and replacing
the recorder drive with a SSD I have laying around. The 24 x 7 noise
doesn't keep me awake, but it does remind me that lots of useless spinning
energy is getting consumed.

I read that cable boxes don't sleep cuz people don't like the delay the
spin-up would cause. Who knows?

Simple questions -- has anyone on the list done it? Will Comcast be mad in
any way I need to consider, assuming I put their drive back at turn-in time?

PS: The technical side of pulling, cloning, reinstalling is not the
issue here, fwiw.
