[Lex Computer & Tech Group/LCTG] Mystery I'm trying to figure out

For what's it's worth, I go along with those who think there is a
balance phenomenon occurring. You are adding 5 g to approximately 200 g
of liquid; a 2.5% increase in weight and seeing a drop of weight of at
least 4% from the weight you just added, in a short period of time.
Unless my calculations are severely off, that's a substantial chemical
reaction change with liberation of mass and you should also be able to
observe otherwise: e.g., fizzing, heat liberation, color change, etc. I
would try your experiment with another scale; preferable non-digital, if
possible. Or change the order of the procedure (probably not easily
done). Is your scale going through some sort of "re-zeroing"?

Best, Dick Wagner
